Knowledge, Communication and Social Networking
in the Age of Web 2.0

Innovation in teaching and learning is increasingly a matter of choosing, adapting to, and inventing technologies.  How do we--and our students--see and use technology differently today than we have in the past? As we explore and experiment with technology for teaching and learning, what techniques will help us to be the most reflective and the most successful?

This year at BMCC’s Technology Day, we'll explore new technologies and how we can use them to enhance our pedagogy. You will also get the chance to hear from and talk to faculty who are already using innovative, interactive technology to improve teaching and learning, and see and try out the technology and support services BMCC has to offer.

We will be presenting the following sessions:

  • "Walk-up and Learn" Stations": Faculty and staff will walk colleagues through developing and producing, on the spot, technological materials or activities, e.g. using digital cameras, scanners, audio recorders, Virtual Chat in Blackboard, etc.

  • Showcase/Poster Sessions: Colleagues will present or display a technological innovation they are using in their classrooms

  • Resources for New Faculty:  Come and learn about the resources available on the BMCC campus to support you in your teaching.

  • Lunch will be provided for attendees.  Door prizes will be awarded.

  • Keynote AddressMike Qaissaunee, Associate Professor of Engineering and Technology at Brookdale Community College in Lincroft, NJ & Gordon F. Snyder, Jr., Executive Director and Principal Investigator for the National Center for Information and Communications Technologies at Springfield Technical Community College, Springfield, MA.

  • Proposals are being requested for "Walk up and Learn" sessions and Showcase/Poster sessions. Please click on the link above to submit a proposal.  The deadline for proposals has been extended to March 10, 2009.
